Choosing the Best Google Search Console Connector

Google Search Console has a fairly limited API but does offer some of the key data views that we like. It’s fairly simple to pull impression, organic ranking, and other key SEO metrics via this API. What’s better is that there is a great free option (from Google) and paid options which make this easy to scale.

  • Cost: Search Console is a Google product and thus, there is a free Google connector which we use all the time.
  • Data Points: First, what are interested in reporting on from Google Search Console? For most of us, we’re watching keyword and landing page metrics to determine trends in organic search visibility. Choose a connector which pulls the data you need.
  • Roll-Up Data Studio Reporting: Google Data Studio accounts have a structure which sometimes makes reporting on a single domain difficult if that domain uses sub-domains. Additionally, some marketers seek to combine reports from multiple GSC properties. In either case, choose a connector which can blend multiple properties like Supermetrics.

Final Thoughts

For Search Console, we typically just connect via Google’s free connector but in cases where we need to blend multiple GSC properties, Supermetrics is a go-to as the free connector cannot do this (at the time of this post).
